backing away from the web

I've turned off Google Buzz. I'm unsubscribing from many email groups. I don't expect to post to Facebook or Twitter until, well, I do. I'm going to try to follow less news, because information that you can't act on is useless information.

  1. Hey, it's your life--do what seems to make sense... but just for fun I'd argue with that last line. I don't think there's such a thing as useless information, and even if there were I don't think the exclusion you're proposing would define it. Hell, even on the face of it, how do you know what information you might be able to act on in the future?

  2. Intellectually, I agree. But there are people who are being distracted to death by information, and I hope to stop being one.

  3. "I'm going to consciously narrow my focus, so I can work on my depth" completely makes sense to me. I was only arguing with the particular turn of phrase you were using.
