Happy Nowruz!

Iranians celebrate Persian New Year, Nowruz

  1. Though in no way Iranian (or central Asian) -- except for that people used to think I was Iranian; being tall and bearded helps, I suppose -- I have a soft spot for Nowruz. If Unitarian Universalists had to glom on to someone else's celebrations, this might be one that's fair game, as it has both civil and religious content, and shared interreligiously over an arch of several thousand miles.

  2. Very true! I just discovered (well, Wikipediad) that its name translates as "New Day," which is a great name for a holiday.
