  1. Wow. I can't believe I never heard of this one before. I mean…it's basically Blazing Saddles, isn't it? It looks for all the world as if Fred Williamson just really wanted to play Sheriff Bart…so he came up with a variation that presumably loses some of the fourth wall breaking, and replaces the Waco Kid with D'Urville Martin as the sidekick/deputy. But man, those bad guys are totally riding through Rock Ridge, aren't they? I wonder if Richard Pryor got paid for his unwitting contributions to the screenplay.

I'll have to see this as soon as I can. I was a fan of Williamson from back when M*A*S*H was in theaters. And the director was a gentleman named Jack Arnold, who also directed The Mouse That Roared! Not to mention It Came from Outer Space, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and the absolutely wonderful The Incredible Shrinking Man.

  2. I love the trailer too. And now that I know it was directed by the guy who did a lot of my fave movies as a kid, I gotta see it. Alas, Netflix doesn't have it. It was released as "Boss" on DVD recently; maybe it'll show up cheap somewhere.

Amazon has it for $14.99. Hmm.
